JR Comet's Just Run Wild Bigsky, FCh
JR was my first whippet, coming to live with me as a puppy in 1998. He made it easy to fall in love with whippets, but made it hard to fall in love with traveling with whippets!
For the first couple of years that JR travelled with me, he would get
car sick. We tried everything, but nothing but time worked. Finally he
got over his tendency to get car sick and went everywhere with me. JR
could often be found trotting around the field with me as I laid out the
course for the day.
JR completed his ASFA Field Championship at just over one year old. He never made it to become an LCM, but always had fun
and came in to the finish with his tail wagging! I learned with JR that
you have to be careful about naming your hounds. JR always ran the course that he thought should be put on the field instead of the course that was on the field.
Over the past couple of years, JR certified many of the young dogs who
are now out terrorizing the old timers on the coursing field. It has
been said by more than one person, relatively new to coursing, that if
you want to win BoB in whippets at Cartersville with an open whippet,
certify with JR and buy blankets from Ruthanna!
Tragically, JR accidentally died April 28, 2005. JR,
we miss you very much. |
